The Ref. 16700 offered for sale here dates to 1991 and is one of the most beautiful examples we have ever seen. Featuring a flawless black glossy dial, the hour markers have aged to lovely creamy patina hue, something very difficult to see on these neo-vintage Rolex. The hands have aged to a lighter tone, which, again, is something very common to see on these, while perfectly matching hands tend to be suspicious of reluming.
The gorgeous, original, Serif font Pepsi insert has aged to a stunning light pink hue, giving the watch tons of character.
The 40mm stainless steel case remains unpolished, presenting sharp bevels and some normal signs of wear. The case back remains in the same condition.
The original sapphire crystal is clean.
It comes suited on the original 20mm Rolex Oyster 78360 stainless steel bracelet with 501B end links and clasp code R1 (1993, contemporary to when the watch was sold according to the guarantee papers), that shows minor wear and very little stretch.
The watch is running great and keeping time, although service history is unknown.
Furthermore, it is presented as with the original, punched guarantee papers showing it was sold in March 1993 for 430,000 Japanese Yens as shown on the original hang tag. The set also includes the wallet, the translation leaflet, a Certified Chronometer guarantee paper and seal hang tag.
Macros of dial and case are available under request.
