1979 Rolex Submariner Ref. 1680 'MK 1' Full Set

The 1680 Submariner was introduced in 1967 and up to '76-'77, it came in a famous variant known as “RED SUB”. In this configuration, we can find 6 different “Marks”: three “METER FIRST” (depth in meters and in feet) and three “FEET FIRST” (depth in feet and meter). From 1978 to 1981, the red submariner disappeared leaving room for the white. The 1680 white has three “Marks”.

Offered for sale here is an extremely beautiful example of a Rolex Submariner ref. 1680 ‘White’.

 

Being the most sough-after version, the MK 1, this example features a perfect dial with creamy patina lume.

 

Not only the dial of this example makes it special, but so does the original Serif font insert.

 

 Along with the dial and bezel, this 1680 features a thick and unpolished case that preserves the original chamfers and has seen very little wear.

 

Directly from the first owner in Spain, where we are based, it comes in a complete kit with inner box, wallet, manuals, stamped guarantee papers showing it was sold at a Rolex AD in Madrid in 1981, and the same jewelers’ certificate of purchase.

 

It is in full working order, keeping great time.

 

It comes suited on the original 20mm Rolex Oyster 93150 stainless steel bracelet with 580 end links, diver’s extension, and clasp code VF (1981).
