The Great Whites MK 1 went from serials 5.18 up to 6.2, being the most sought-after version after the rarer MK0.
This example is a MK 1 with serial 6.1 in watch collectors call ‘barn find’ condition.
The black matte dial is just flawless; 10/10. The oversized ‘maxi’ lume plots present a vivid, heavy patina with a waffle-kind texture that only builds up by being inside of a drawer for many years. The original hands have a matching patina.
The original bezel present sharp edges, remaining unpolished. The bezel insert is original and remains in great shape too.
The case is simply gorgeous. It remains complete unpolished, unmolested, untouched or whatever you like to call it. It shows sharp lugs without presenting dents, only small scratches from use.
The original domed crystal is also unpolished and presents some minor and some deeper scratches.
It comes suited on the original 20mm Rolex 93150 Oyster stainless-steel bracelet with 585 end links and period cored date code VF on the clasp.
The overall watch remains as found; in barn (or drawer) condition. It even preserves the dust in between the bezel and cristal, in between the lugs and in between the bracelet links. We have decided that it will be up to the future owner to decide whether to ultrasonic clean it or leave it as is. Same case with the crystal; it can be softly buffed to remove the minor scratches but that’s entirely up to the future new owner.
The Rolex cal. 1570 has never been serviced before. It’s not keeping accurate time so we recommend a movement service for a daily use. Again, we will leave this up to the future owner.
Finding vintage Rolex watches in this condition is turning more and more difficult. This is indeed a great opportunity to own an untouched Rolex iconic diver from the 70s.
