The watch offered here for sale is a two-tone Ref. 1601 Datejust from 1976.
The sunburst finish ‘Pie-Pan’ champagne dial remains in stunning condition with no stains. The complete lume plots present a charming patina, matching with that on the hands. At 6’clock, to each side of the T SWISS T printing, we can see the Sigma sign that shows that the hour markers and hands are made from white gold rather than steel as more commonly seen.
The stainless steel case remains in good condition, showing some signs of wear.
The yellow gold fluted bezel features a stunning purple patina that can be seen growing on some gold watches, giving the watch so much character.
The waterproof case back remains in the same condition, presenting normal signs of use.
The original acrylic crystal has some minor scratches that could be easily buffed away.
The Rolex automatic cal. 1570 is running well and keeping time, although service history is unknown.
It is suited on the original Rolex Jubilee 62523H yellow gold and stainless steel bracelet with 455 J end links and clasp code 14 1 A that shows some stretch common to this type of bracelet and coherent with its age.
Overall, an honest original vintage Rolex watch that is ready to be worn and enjoyed.
