1973 Rolex Submariner Ref. 1680 'Red' MK V with Rolex Service papers and boxes

The Rolex Red Submariner was produced from roughly 1969 to 1974. Aside from the red font that drives collectors batty, it is truly notable for one thing: it's the first Submariner with a date.

Offered for sale is an extremely beautiful example of a Rolex Submariner ref. 1680 Red. With serial 338xxxx, this piece dates from 1973 and it is part of the MK V batch. The awesome patina on the lume plots, along with the perfectly matching patina on the hands, contrast with the mint black matte dial. The red accent on the Submariner printing gives it a distinctive look making this Mark 5 dial just stunning.

Not only the dial of this example makes it special; the original and rotating diver bezel has a correct font insert with tritium patina pearl.

But there is more to add, the case presents very sharp lugs with well-defined chamfers.

It comes suited on the original 20mm Rolex Oyster 9315 bracelet with 380 endlinks.

The watch was fully serviced by a Rolex Service Centre back in 2014 as shown on the service card. The invoice of the jobs done are also included. It comes with the original inner and outer boxes and maintenance manual.
