Offered for sale is an extremely beautiful example of a Rolex Submariner ref. 1680 Red. With serial 3181xxxx, this piece dates from 1972 and it is part of the MK V batch. The awesome patina on the lume plots, along with the perfectly matching patina on the hands, contrast with the mint black matte dial. The red accent on the Submariner printing gives it a distinctive look making this Mark 5 dial just stunning.
Not only the dial of this example makes it special; the original and rotating diver bezel has a correct and uncommon fat font insert with tritium patina pearl. The numerals have also aged to a matching patina.
But there is more to add, the case remains thick, showing some signs of polishing but still letting visible the original lines.
It comes suited on the original 20mm Rolex Oyster 9315 stainless-steel bracelet with 280 end links and clasp code P11. Clasp is probably a service replacement from 1991 used for Tudor Submariners.
It comes with the original inner box, translation leaflet, wallet, hang tags, anchor and stamped guarantee papers showing it was sold in Spain in 1974.
