1971 Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513 'Serif dial'

The Rolex Submariner 5513 was introduced in 1962 with no COSC printing on the dial (different from the 5512) and was the perfect tool watch for professional divers. First with the caliber 1530 and then, during the same year, with the caliber 1520 and updated crown-guard design. The Serif 5513 is nicknamed after the serif fonts visible on the 3, 6 and 9 hour markers on the dial.

This example offered here for sale with serial number 2860xxx dates back to 1971 and we are proud to say that it is one of the best 5513 Serif we’ve ever seen. It features a perfect black matte dial with heavy yellow patina lume hour markers and matching hands. The original bezel insert is in very good condition too and preserves the original matching pear. The 40mm stainless steel case preserves factory sharp bevels. The crystal is in great shape too.

The watch is running well and keeping excellent time.

It comes suited on the original 20mm Rolex 9315 bracelet with 280 endlinks, date stamped 4/71 and PATETED diver’s extension.

Indeed, a watch difficult to beat.
