1970 Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513 'Non-Serif' w/ Box and blank papers

The Rolex Submariner 5513 was introduced in 1962 with no COSC printing on the dial (different from the 5512) and was the perfect tool watch for professional divers. First with the caliber 1530 and then, during the same year, with the caliber 1520 and updated crown-guard design. The Serif 5513 is nicknamed after the serif fonts visible on the 3-, 6- and 9-hour markers on the dial.

This example offered here for sale dates to 1970. It features a perfect black matte Non-Serif dial with heavy yellow patina lume hour markers and matching hands. The original bezel insert is in very good condition too showing some marks of use.

 

The 40mm stainless steel case has been previously polished but remains thick.

 

The original domed crystal is in great shape too.

 

The watch is running well and keeping good time although service history is unknown.

 

It comes suited on the original 20mm Rolex 9315 Oyster stainless-steel bracelet with 280 end links and clasp code VD.

 

Furthermore, it comes as a full set, including inner box and blank guarantee papers.

 

Indeed, a watch difficult to beat.
