Offered for sale here is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Ref. 6286 with ‘Serpico y Laino’ white waffle dial that dates to 1953.
The original, white waffle ‘Serpico y Laino’ signed dial is preserved in great condition for its age, showing normal signs of wear, but remaining overall very clean. The gold-plated hour markers show a lovely patina which matches perfectly with that on the original ‘leaf’ hands.
The stainless steel case remains strong, preserving thick lugs and sharp edges, showing normal wear. The 18k yellow gold smooth bezel is in the same condition. So is the case back, which clearly shows the original S&L ACERO Y ORO 14K engraving confirming its provenance by the famous retailer. The inner case back is correctly engraved too. Both the serial and reference numbers, as well as the BREVET engraving in between the lugs are clearly visible, something very hard to find on such old pieces.
The acrylic crystal is clean, with only light marks.
The watch is running well and keeps time within vintage specs, although service history is unknown.
It comes suited on a handmade leather strap with a steel buckle.
Macros of dial and case are available under request.
