1981 Tudor Submariner Ref. 94110 'Snowflake' Unpolished

There’s a certain kind of magic in the Tudor Submariner, especially those fitted with the now-iconic “Snowflake” dial. Once considered the utilitarian sibling to the Rolex Sub, the Tudor Snowflake has since stepped into its own spotlight—admired for its bold, geometric dial design, its use in military contracts, and its rugged, no-nonsense reliability. What was once a tool watch for serious divers has become one of the most sought-after vintage references, known for its character, scarcity, and quietly growing cult status.

Introduced in the early 1970s, the Ref. 94110 represented a shift in Tudor’s Submariner line, equipped with ETA calibers (primarily the 2784) and featuring a date complication with hacking seconds, a notable upgrade for accurate time setting. Early production saw dial paint issues inherited from the 7021/0, later corrected by the time Tudor introduced this particular configuration—the post-1981 ‘Type B’ shield dial, exclusive to the 94110. These later dials featured a slightly elongated Tudor shield and bolder “m” and “ft” print, making them distinct within the Snowflake lineage.

The example offered here is a Tudor Submariner Ref. 94110 'Snowflake' which dates to 1981.

The period-correct ‘Type B’ dial is in great condition, with very little to no signs of wear. The ‘Snowflake’ hour markers feature a pumpkin patina hue which contrast in a harmonious manner with the black matte dial. The original hands have aged to a lighter patina.

The stainless steel case is equally as good, remaining in unpolished condition, showing thick lugs and preserving its original, prominent bevels. It shows normal signs of wear for a tool watch of its age. The case back also remains crisp with all engraving visible and normal wear. The stainless steel bezel is preserved in the same condition. The original and period-correct MK3 insert is in great shape, with very light wear only.

It comes fitted on a handmade leather strap with stainless steel buckle.

The acrylic crystal shows only light marks that could be easily removed.

The watch is running great and keeping good time, although the service history is unknown.
