This example offered for sale here is a Tudor Submariner Ref. 7928 with 'PCG' case and Gilt Chapter Ring 'Exclamation Mark' dial which dates to 1962.
The rare Gilt Chapter Ring ‘Exclamation Mark’ dial is preserved in stunning condition, with very little wear if any. The texturized dark gray dial is flawless. The hour markers have developed a puffy, charming golden patina. The original gilt hands match perfectly, echoing the warmth of the dial.
The case is equally strong, remaining very thick and featuring prominent lug bevels. It shows just the correct wear for a tool watch that has been worn as intended. The case back remains in the same condition, with all the engravings remaining clear. The inner case back shows the correct stamps. The bezel is equally sharp. The original and period correct ‘Long 5’ insert is stunning, showing just the right wear and featuring a lovely subtle fade. The original pip/pearl has a matching patina.
The TrueDome acrylic crystal is clean.
It is suited on a Rolex Swiss Riveted stainless steel bracelet with 80 end links and clasp dated 2/61 that shows normal wear and light stretch for its age.
The watch is running great and keeping time, although service history is unknown. The movement shows the US export mark “ROW”.
Macros of dial and case, as well as inner case back and movement pictures are available under request.
