Offered for sale here is one of the craziest tropical Speedmasters ever surfaced the market.
The dial has turned to a perfect, uniform tropical color with no discoloring or different tones or stains or spots; it’s a perfectly smooth surface. Indeed, one of the best we’ve seen (if not the best). Lume is gorgeous too showing a clean yellow patina. Hands are original, having aged to a darker tone, giving the watch so much character.
The original DON bezel has slightly faded giving it a distinctive look.
Case remains in unpolished condition with no mayor scratches or dents. Crown and pushers are original, case back is also unpolished with Seahorse logo perfectly visible as well as some normal wear and tool marks.
With correct serial number, this watch was manufactured in 1970, being part of the first batches of the 69ers, batches that are common to see with tropical dials.
The Omega cal. 861 has been fully serviced by our watchmaker and it is running strong and keeping time.
The original crystal with old Omega logo engraved on the center will be included in the sale, although it is not installed because it is scratched.
It comes suited on a 20mm unworn handmade Molequin leather strap.
The Omega Extract from the Archives confirm production in 1970 and delivery to Venezuela, in case you wondered how it has turned this tropical.
This is indeed a great opportunity to own a transitional reference with a very different dial than what most people are used to see.
Macro and UV shots are available under request.
