The Rolex Daytona reference 6263 is one of the most iconic models in the history of the brand. Introduced in 1969, it was part of the first generation of the Daytona line featuring the so-called "push-button" chronograph. The 6263 is notable for its bezel, which is made of black acrylic and marked with a tachymeter scale, allowing users to measure speed over a known distance. It was powered by the manually wound Valjoux 727 movement.
This reference was produced throughout the 1970s and into the early 1980s, becoming famous for its association with motorsport and its stylish, rugged design. The 6263 also featured the distinctive "pump pushers," which distinguished it from other Daytona models. It was available in stainless steel, and its design with a black bezel and contrasting white dial made it one of the most sought-after models by collectors today.
The 6263 remained in production until the early 1980s when it was replaced by the reference 16520, which introduced the automatic movement. The Daytona 6263 remains a symbol of precision and performance, revered for its design and its historical connection to racing and Rolex's evolution as a brand.
