This early example remains in a time capsule-like condition.
The matte black dial remains in excellent vintage condition. The "art deco" 12 is that of MK1 design for the "Space Compax" reference range. The lume stripes and plots are fully intact and have achieved a charming yellowish patina which matches perfectly with that on the original hands, which also remain in excellent condition.
The asymmetrical case retains factory finishing and is believed to be unpolished showing light wear from use. The bezel also remains in excellent vintage condition showing normal wear.
The original crystal has the UG logo in the center and it is also preserved in great condition, showing some minor scratches towards the edges.
The crown is also original, signed with the Universal Geneve "U". The black rubber pushers are also original.
The watch comes on its original 20mm original Gay Freres for UG ‘beads of rice double grain’ bracelet date stamped 1/67 with UM end links. The bracelet has no stretch, remaining in excellent condition.
The Universal Genève cal. 85 (Valjoux 72 Manual Wind) movement has been fully serviced by our qualified watchmaker and it is perfectly clean, running excellent, keeping great time and with all chronograph functions working as they should.
Indeed, we consider this example one of the best that have surfaced the watch market recently.
