2022 Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 6119G ‘Clous de Paris’ with Box and Papers

The Calatrava with the iconic Clous de Paris bezel is one of the most inimitable examples of Patek Philippe style. Launched in 1932 with Ref. 96, the manufacture's first model with a reference number, the Calatrava has established itself as the epitome of the classic round wristwatch and one of the most beautiful manifestations of timeless elegance. Its purist design reflects the Bauhaus minimalist principle in which function determines an object's form.

 

The Clous de Paris pattern first decorated a Calatrava in 1934, the Ref. 96D, and became an obligatory presence from 1985 with Ref. 3919, which was for many years the entry point to the collection and one of the most distinctive features of its successor.

 

This bezel design continued to make scattered appearances in the Calatrava line a half dozen times over the years leading up to the unveiling of the 6119G-001 in 2021.

 

With a very classic entirely polished round case, 39mm in diameter and 8.08mm thick, this new Ref. 6119 has a clearly contemporary look that translates the evolution of current preferences and accentuates its presence.

 

This new icon of the Geneva manufacture comes in two versions: the Ref. 6119R-001 with a rose gold case and grained silver dial, and the Ref. 6119G-001 in white gold, with an interesting charcoal-grey dial that plays with the contrasts between a vertical satin finish and a circular satin finish on the subsidiary seconds dial. On this reference, the hour indexes and hands are also in white gold.

 

The 6119 features a brand-new hand-wound movement, the caliber 30-255 PS with a power reserve of 65 hours. The display case-back in sapphire crystal allows to appreciate all the beauty of the finishing and decoration of the movement.

 

This new-generation Calatrava is a perfect combination of watchmaking tradition and technological innovation, the benchmark for all other luxury dress watches, and will be for many passionates the entry into the universe of Patek Philippe haute horlogerie.

This watch offered for sale here is a Ref. 6119G-001 in virtually new condition.

 

The dial is flawless, and so are the dial printings.

 

The white gold case remains untouched, showing no apparent wear but only some very minor, light storage marks on the side.

 

The display case back remains in the same condition as the rest of the case.

 

The manually-wound cal. 30-255 PS remains clean and sharp, running excellent.

 

It is on its original Patek Philippe black crocodile leather strap with original white gold buckle that also remains unworn and shows little wear caused by the way it was stored. Included in the set is also an extra, unworn Patek Philippe light blue crocodile leather strap.

 

This example is presented as a full set which includes outer box, inner box, wallet, manuals, original Certificate of Origin showing it was sold in 2022 by David Rosas, an Official Patek Philippe Retailer in Portugal, and the original purchase receipt.
