Fewer than 20 surfaced since their production, the Universal Geneve Uni-Compax Ref. 884100 is, undoubtedly, one of UGs’ grail timepieces of all time.
Initially introduced in 1963 and manufactured for only two years, the Uni-Compax ref. 884100 is Universal Geneves’ 1960s essence captured in 36.5mm. After the Compur and Compax elegant lines, the 60s sporty chronographs from UG arised and are the ones attracting more attention amongst collectors.
This particular reference is nicknamed ‘Big Eye’ for obvious reasons: the oversized register at 3 o’clock. It was produced both in black and white dials, although there is something about the black variant that keeps us captivated… It may be how it shows off the red accents or the white registers on this ‘reverse panda’ dial with Rolex Daytona ‘Paul Newman’ colors typical of the manufacturer Singer.
Anyway, this particular example offered here remains in outstanding condition with a perfect black matte dial, clean white registers, vivid red accents, original lume, all outer tracking ‘Base 1000’ scale numbers complete, blue’d steel register hands and movement caliber 125 running strong and cased in 36.5mm all stainless steel with serial and reference numbers still visible on the case back.
It comes suited on a 20mm handmade leather strap.
Without doubt, this is the opportunity to own a very rare bird which has only seen a tremendous increase in value over the last few years reaching the 35k mark in auction houses in 2018. Don’t miss it!
