The Rolex Submariner 5513 was introduced in 1962 with no COSC printing on the dial (different from the 5512) and was the perfect tool watch for professional divers. First with the caliber 1530 and then, during the same year, with the caliber 1520 and updated crown-guard design.

The last series of matte dials that Rolex used in the Submariners are known by collectors as the Maxi Dials. The characteristic of these dials are the oversized lume plots for better visibility.

This particular example dates back to 1979. It features a beautiful and untouched MK 4 black matte dial. The lume plots have aged to a lovely creamy patina. The hands remain also untouched, showing the pass of the years through them and giving the watch so much character, aging slightly darker, due to physical reasons of the mix used, than the dial as it is commonly seen. The bezel inlay is in very good condition with minor marks, and showing some fading giving it a distinctive look. The 40mm stainless steel case shows original chamfer lines and remains fat. The original domed crystal makes the dial look even bigger.

The watch is running good and keeping time, although service history is unknown.

It comes suited on the correct 20mm Rolex Oyster 93150 stainless steel bracelet with 580 endlinks and divers extension.

If this wasn’t enough, the example offered here is presented in a full set which includes outer box with reference sticker, inner box, booklet, calendar, anchor and stamped guarantee papers stating the sale took place in 1981 by a Spanish jeweler.

This condition is truly difficult to find nowadays. Coming directly from the first owner, this example offered here is a drawer find (as there are no barns in Spain) in collectors’ condition that must not be missed. Otherwise it will be missed forever.
