The Rolex Submariner 5513 was introduced in 1962 with no COSC printing on the dial (different from the 5512) and was the perfect tool watch for professional divers. First with the caliber 1530 and then, during the same year, with the caliber 1520 and updated crown-guard design.
This particular example with serial number 3,305,xxx dates back to 1973. It features a beautiful and untouched black matte dial with ‘Non-Serif’ creamy patina lume hour markers and hands. The evenly faded/ghost bezel inlay is in very good condition with minor scratches as well as the matching patina on the pearl, giving it a distinctive look. The fat 40mm stainless steel case is in original unpolished condition with sharp bevels. The domed plexi has some minor scratches that can be easily buffed away.
This condition is truly difficult to find nowadays. Coming directly from the first owner, this example offered here is a barn find in collectors’ condition that must not be missed. Otherwise it will be missed forever.
The watch is running good and keeping time as it has been recently serviced by our watchmaker. Although the movement has been serviced for many years of safe use to come, we preferred not to ultrasonic clean the case and leave that decision to the next owner. That’s why dust in between de lugs is still visible.
It comes suited with a military style 20mm handmade leather strap that matches the history and the looks of this tool watch perfectly.
