The youngest of the oldest.
The last one of them all.
Of course, we are talking about vintage Omega Speedmaster Professional.
Plexi, tritium, seahorse case back with circular writing, brushed finishes on bracelet and case, cal. 861… We could probably be describing many of the Speedmaster family models below the mid-90s. However, this case talks about a particular and very special model.
Attractive as its older brothers, this Ref. 357050 is known to be the transitional model of what we know Speedmasters were some time ago and what we know Speedmasters are today.
This particular example remains in like new condition, with hardly a few wears. The dial is simply flawless; no dots or misprinting, perfect black matte color and contrasting evenly patinated to a drawer-yellow color lume hour markers. Hands remain in perfect condition with a gorgeous matching patina too. Mind the dust spots; the bezel is in awesome shape.
Suited up with the correct and rare transitional 1479/812 bracelet with all brushed links (differing to later bracelets with polished pieces on the links), it comes as a complete set with boxes, instruction booklets and warranty card sold in 1993.
Definitely a watch to keep in mind for the near future…
