Not the tribute, just the one and only 1931 ‘Reverso’.
With more than 85 years on its back, this particular watch preservers all of its charm and originality. Nowadays, finding Jaeger LeCoultre’s most iconic watch in good and full original condition is an impossible mission to accomplish.
This is why we are proud to offer it here.
Being an icon for elegance today, the Reverso began with sporting roots; British Polo players found that most of their wristwatches’ crystals got easily broken. They reported this issue to César de Trey at LeCoultre, who design one of the first sports watches.
Cased in a hinged slide, easily flipped over to protect the face, the Reverso had a big success. However, its svelte design soon attracted the British aristocracy.
This particular example here remains in all original and untouched condition. The stainless steel case shows wear, but remains unpolished. The original crystal has some dust and minor scratches but it’s also the original one (most of these are seen with built up crystals that don’t fit correctly the case and aren’t at case level). The dial remains original and in great condition, aged to a slightly brown-ish color.
The original Tavannes movement has been fully service by our watchmaker; and old school professional capable of making this old treasure run like the first day. Movement pictures can be sent under request.
The Extract from the Archives from Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Heritage Department is included in the sale.
First-year Reversos have become increasingly difficult to find for collectors. And what’s a watch collection without a Reverso? Here’s your opportunity to own a fantastic example.
